‘Noqte’ on Iranian calligraphy debuts on TV BRICS

Documentary film ‘Noqte’ made its global debut in Russia.

A documentary titled ‘Noqte’, which delves into the artistry of Iranian calligraphy, made its global debut in Russia, courtesy of the TV BRICS International Media Network.

This premiere is a noteworthy event, as the film will now be accessible to audiences across the BRICS+ nations.

Directed by Amir Valinejad, ‘Noqte’ enhances the diverse collection of TV BRICS’s video offerings, which include original works from filmmakers in Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Argentina, and Venezuela.

The film was first broadcast on TV BRICS on August 12, with a repeat scheduled for August 17.

Additionally, it will be available in multiple languages—English, Chinese, Spanish, and Portuguese—through the TV BRICS online platform.

‘Noqte’ takes an in-depth look at the rich tradition and intricate techniques of Iranian calligraphy, emphasizing the significance of the 'noqte' (dot) as a key component.

The documentary has already received praise, winning the XXXII International Film Forum Golden Knight award and earning a nomination for the XXI National Award Laurel Branch.

Valinejad, the director, highlighted the importance of the film, noting that it introduces viewers to the refined art of calligraphy.

He explained, ‘Iranian calligraphy is not just an art form; it is a sacred language rooted in the transcription of the Holy Quran. Throughout the years, this revered form of expression has left its mark on numerous disciplines, such as architecture, painting, and miniature art. We are excited to see 'Noqte' debut on TV BRICS, and we hope it encourages viewers to appreciate the beauty of Iranian culture.”

The documentary, produced in 2020 with the backing of the Ibn Sina Islamic Culture Research Foundation, aims to promote the understanding of Islamic culture, science, and philosophy among academics and students.

TV BRICS is a 24-hour general-interest television channel serving audiences in BRICS+ countries.

Broadcasting across the Russian Federation, the channel is available on numerous digital platforms, online services, and social media networks.

It reaches around 12 million subscribers and plays an important role in promoting information exchange among its media partners.
